TR-NSMN Database Information
TR-NSMN portal allows users to query earthquake and station information to select and download all accelerometric waveforms without any registration procedure.
Accelerometric data in this database has been come from Türkiye Strong Motion Network equipped with 754 three-component digital new generation accelerometers. Regarding to earthquake information, it has been obtained by the National Seismological Observation Network of AFAD (https://deprem.afad.gov.tr).
Unit of all acceleration data is cm/sn2 (gal).
TR-NSMN database includes processed and unprocessed data, which are raw data multiplied by constant of instruments but unfiltered, with magnitude greater than 3 in ASCII format. As for processed data, these are available for between 1976-2008 and it contains ground motion parameters and response spectra. These recordings were manually filtered and processed with a consistent methodology (Akkar and Boomer, 2006).
The waveform files comprise a header with 19 rows and a data vector. Response spectra files also contain 19 rows header and periods from 0.01s to 10s.
Record file name is created as
Date(yyyymmdd)+time(hhmmss)+ abbreviation of the station
For example: station (1201); it is (20030501002704_1201).
The AFAD ShakeMaps are automatically generated using the actually measured ground motions recorded by TR-NSMN stations. For the EQs greater than 4.5, the ShakeMap is revised with the AFAD magnitude, Epicenter and Fault parameters manually. ShakeMap Software was orginally developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earthquake Hazards Program (Wald et al. 2006). The peak-motion parametric data that are used as input to ShakeMap are automatically obtained from the SeisComp3 scwfparam module (Cauzzi et al., 2013)
once a new earthquake origin is available.
